Bat Dog part 4

As I stated earlier Bat Dog was just an idea. It was not until I was at a family get together when he came to life. My family has always been a great supporter of my art work and they never held back on what they thought of my work. While showing them my newest work my cousin plainly said this would be a great T-Shirt design as the day went on ideas was past back & forth from a simple T-shirt to jewelry, Hoodies, Shorts, and so on. A real grass roots movement something for the surfer shops in his areas, while he created the jewelry and I was working on the designs for the clothing, another cousin was going to write a story.

So on that day Bat Dog was born, Next question who is Bat Dog?

My first thought was he was created by a Wizard to protect the princess
Not a bad idea.

But like some good ideas this one went south we were waiting to see how the original jewelry piece would look like. I started coming up with designs always sketching something out. But it took a year for the piece to come back to us and it looked like poop the momentum had faded. My cousin who was going to write the story started to work on her own projects and they were taken off and the other had his own bills to pay so this sat in my closet for a long time

before it re emerged again when a friend of mine was going into his fathers business toy making and asked me if I had any ideas that could be done as a plush toy, once again I was digging up the art work to show him very excited the new berth of Bat Dog!
The only thing I changed was instead of him protecting the Princess it would protect all kids from monsters under the bed, closets and that scary tapping from the bed room window that keeps most kids up on a windy night. But like the next sketch this to went back to sleep

Who know when it will awaken again?

Bat Dog part 2

OKay, I was asked what is the story behind Bat Dog? Well if you are an artist or have children there is an all to familiar statement that is made from time to time "I do not know what to draw" or it could be in the form of a question "What do I draw know? this is the answer to that question I asked. I was told to draw one of my dogs as if he was a living Gargoyle. What started out as a simple exercise became something bigger but I'll be posting that when I scan some of the sketches I did and finish this short tale.
