4Rv Publishing had both at the
“MPLA”
(Mountain Plains Library Association)

The convention was held at the convention center in downtown Oklahoma City.
According to reports all went well how many libraries bought books I don’t know.
But if you look at the photo carefully you will see “If Fish Could Drive” sitting upfront for all to see. And if you look even more carefully you can see all the four books I have illustrated in the second to last row (“Colors”, “If Fish Could Drive”, “Angeline Jellybean”, and “Would a Kangaraffe Make you Laffe?”) plus “The Art of Science” in the first row slightly hidden behind another book; the display looks nice it shows quite the amount of work that this little publishing house does and I hope 4Rv has great success in selling the books

You Don't Need to Cover Your Eyes, It's True!

("Lollipop" inside page artwork from "If Fish Could Drive")
YES!
It is finally out and available for all to read
"If Fish Could Drive"
Written by Dana Warren & illustrated by Stephen Macquignon (me)
Book description:
Lollipop is different, and his friend Sprinkles is different, too. Lollipop is a giraffe with stripes. Sprinkles is a zebra with sploshes.
Lollipop wonders if his "normal" family would love him no matter what.

This is the second book I have had the privilege to work on by Dana Warren, the first one that still holds a special place for me is "Colors" also a wonderful book teaching kids all about color!

Available at:

Amazon, & 4RV Publishing book store

(I'm sure in time Barnes & Noble will have it up on there site as well)

Grass Roots Movement

When you have little resources available to you and need to promote a picture book that does not have a cover image to view.
What to do?
"Would A Kangaraffe Make You Laffe?"

is a picture book I illustrated and was published in June of 2009.
But to this day there is still no image of the cover on Amazon nor B&N (not sure why).

You can buy the book from them, you just have no idea what it looks like,
I'm sure in time it will be taken care of.
So I turned to one of the few resource available to me, my mom who works in real estate
and gave her about thirty copies of the book to say thank you to all her clientele who has kids. It is a slow process but I figure as long as the book is getting out there and the public can read it. It may have a chance to sell.

This note was given to me from one of the kids that my mom gave the book to.
It made me happy to read that someone was enjoying the book.

Humpty Dumpty was Pushed!

It's a couple days after Easter and I thought it would be a good time to write about a certain nursery rhyme.
On my home page a question popped up: Where in the nursery rhyme does it say Humpty Dumpty is a egg?
Silly question of course it say its an egg;

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall,
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.
All the king's horses and all the king's men
Couldn't put Humpty together again.

Hm mm?
I thought it said it.
Well as you can read it doesn't so According to Wikipedia Humpty Dumpty may of started out as an riddle by the time the 1800's come along the answer is already known to us Wikipedia also have other theory's on humpty dumpty one that sounds good was about a battle in 1643
(the title comes from a book by Mark Blatte about a murder that has taken place in a NYC hip hop club)
