LMZ Postcards

Remember when people wrote letters and sent postcards?

In the aftermath of 9’ll, with my beloved City scarred and my 7th Avenue studio lost, I packed my cat and went driving across the country, unsure of where my life was heading.

For years I had been writing and mailing postcards for the postmark, then collecting the cards from the recipient as part of a long-standing art project. During my cross-country sojourn after 9’11 I sent postcards from the different states I visited, each postcard a memory and memento of the places I visited, what I had experienced and felt. 10,000 miles of road and three months later, I returned home to New York but without my cat. She stayed in Las Vegas with my dad and mom.

This is a Book Publishing and Art Show Project of a collection of 52 postcards that were made during 1995 to 2002. The postcards are snapshots of my travels, thoughts and my relationships, composed in an artful way. Each page of the proposed book has a copy of a card with an accompanying transcription of the card.

This project will cost $15,000. as it is a two part project first publishing the postcards will be reproduced with the best quality digital imaging 52 postcards and most are two sided. The second part of the project is the gallery. The costs are still being negotiated, and could run more than the projected because of the framing issues, as the postcards are 2-sided, estimated cost $8,000. I am still looking into spaces, though I now have a few spaces that are interested!

All the Turkish Delight was eaten

Well I finished the last of the Turkish Delight so the Holidays must be over. I hope everyone had a nice holiday; I have to say mine went well this year very little stress and a lot of activities visiting family, dinner, plays, seeing the Rockets, shopping, even the opera.

I spent many days after New Year’s playing a video game called “Assassin Creed 3” the graphics are just beautiful. The time and people power it must have taken to create this world is just amazing and I’m looking forward to spending more time playing the adventure.

But that is all done for the moment and I am back to the drawing board, for the last couple of days I spent updating some of the sites I belong to, I also created a new websitePicture Book Artist”; it came out well and I really enjoy how the “Gallery” is set up it really shows off my artwork.

I am also spending time working on finishing a storyboard “Emma B. Lavender goes on a trip” it is an idea I had sitting around and a friend of mine has encouraged me to finish it so I’ll be working on that for the next few weeks and unfortunately will not have time to create artwork for “Illustration Friday” weekly word challenges till I am done.

Also! my good friend Lisa Zilker is doing a Kickstater campaign “Postcard Book” she plans to self-publish postcards she painted from her travels and seeking space to rent for an exhibit it should be a fun book and show. (See links below for details)

please help if you can.

In My Hands

I just wanted to share the finished watercolor my friemd Lisa created for me in a post some time ago I wrote we where doing a exchange, Rieki sessions for a painting. I did not expect her to create one just for me and I don't think she planned it that way but as she worked on it it was screaming my name and I can't agree more I am looking forward to hanging it on my wall.

Look what I GOT!

Look what I GOT!
For the last three days I have been helping my friend Michael packs up his life into boxes.
It has been a long time since we spent that much time together; you don’t realize what you are missing out on till it hits you in the head.
The studio is downsizing like the rest of the world and holding on to a space of that size is no longer needed. (See link)
It was great to walk down memory lane packing up books we adapted into animated specials as well as the artwork.  (I said oh wow a lot)
I found this little gem of artwork under some other papers and asked if “I have I could have it?” So that’s the story.
______________________________________________

Also this second piece of artwork is from another friend of mine Lisa who I am doing an exchange with.
One of the modalities I use as a massage therapist is Reiki (energy work) I am doing a series of sessions on her in exchange for the artwork.
What is also cool about this is she is creating the watercolor with me in mind so I can’t wait to see it finished.

"The Lisa Lisa Show"

I have a friend Lisa Zilker one day she said to me "I wish I had a radio show" She has felt for a long time that she has a lot to say and thinks her opinion should be heard.
 and Why not!
So I introduced her to "Blog Talk Radio" and I have to say she has been doing a
 Bang Up Job!
with her 1/2 hour talk show.

Lisa is one of those personalities that you fall in love with, you have no choice but to love her and respect her hard what appears to be her never tireless attempt to get her artwork out there for the whole world to see it.
I can't wait for the day when I can say I knew her when.
Buy her artwork  :-)

Sunday with Lisa

On Sunday the September 20Th I found my self at the Queens Museum of Art spending the afternoon with Lisa Zilker a Fine artist and a friend of mine. Lisa was part of a group of artist who was showing there artwork at the 2ND Annual Multicultural Art & Crafts Festival.

I loved the way the shadows played off her art work it just made them even more special. Lisa calls them "Tombstones or Monuments" they are part of a series that she has done. The ones in the picture stand about twelve inches tall , but I have seen some of them at her studio the stands about five feet or so. Also they show up in her paintings as well . They are very special and have a real depth to them that needs to be experienced by touching them and speaking to this very talented artist.
Thank you for the invite I look forward to your next show
