Ame Dyckman's words

On twitter I came across this:
"My firefly jar's Lid is gone. Woe betide it-- Scroll beside it: "I promise not To leave 'Til dawn." With a tiny flourish, Contract's on."

It struck a nerve I needed to illustrate it.

So I did this sketch first.

 

 

I posted the sketch to show Ame she loved it.

 

I started to do more sketches and came up with this idea.

 

 

 

 

I add shadows using India ink, and washes of watercolor
